A healthy living is essential to perform every day activities at ease, and there is no alternative to that. You only have one life and just one chance to keep your body and your mind fit. A healthy diet consists of a variety of healthy food that provides adequate amount of nutrients to your body, mind and keeps you active. The five major food groups are:-
1. Vegetables and Beans
2. Fruits
3. Meat, Seafood and Poultry
4. Fiber, Whole wheat and Grains
5. Milk and Dairy products
Each group of food provides various nutrients to our body and a wholesome meal should contain all nutrients. A balanced diet is a platter that consists all of these nutrients.
Mostly, all vegetables are rich in vitamins and fibers. It is also low in calories and hence serves best for lunch and dinner. They are filling and high in mineral content.
There is a popular saying that states, 'an apple a day keeps the doctor away'. Certainly, fruits are healthy and rich in fiber, vitamin and antioxidants. They are delicious and lowers the occurrence of heart diseases and strokes.
Unprocessed meat and eggs are healthy and works better on your body than processed and synthesized food. These are perfect examples of a protein rich food. Fish and seafood are excellent sources of Omega-3 fatty acids and minerals.
Adding them to the diet provides adequate amount of fiber, source of vitamins and magnesium through bread, brown rice, oats. These are one of the most popular food and known as a staple diet for most households.
Milk and Dairy products contain calcium and keeps your bones strong and healthy. It eliminates the chances of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Milk, cheese, tofu, yogurt are also low fat products and helps in digestion.
So, a healthy, balanced diet has the capability not just to keep us healthy but also prevents chronic diseases.
